Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 1 Timothy 4:7-8

Developing proficiency in any endeavor requires an ongoing focus on the fundamentals. Rather than duplicate what others have already done well, and more than simply publishing documents, Profitable For All Things provides interactive tools that seek to make building and refining spiritual discipline a dynamic and constantly refreshing exercise.

These tools focus on the Bible because:

• Scripture reveals God's precious and magnificent promises which lead us to the true knowledge of Him, and through that knowledge God's divine power gives us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3-4)

• Scripture gives us perseverance, encouragement and hope (Romans 15:4) - three things we must have because...

• ...Discipline is hard in the short-term, but results in the long-term benefit of peace and righteousness (Hebrew 12:11)

1. Bible Text Analysis. These tools automate labor-intensive tasks related to Biblical word studies. Instant Word Study provides a way to quickly uncover and summarize word usage in the Bible, in particular revealing the original language words. Word Frequency counts the number of times each word in a given passage appears.

2. Scripture Memory. The Scripture Memory Trainer assists you with learning one or more Scripture verses (in a variety of English and Spanish translations of the Bible) by providing hints but not revealing the entire verse at once.

3. Topical Quizzes. Ezra is essentially a quiz program covering a graduated sequence of topics ranging from introductory ("milk") to more mature ("meat"). You can use Ezra to test yourself on a given topic to see how well you understand that subject. The intent is to provide you with an objective but low pressure "self-test". If you have already studied the topic, Ezra is an easy way to refresh your memory and reinforce what you know. If you are new to the topic, Ezra can challenge, inspire and motivate you to learn more by piquing your interest with key questions.

A key design criteria for Profitable For All Things is to make as much content as possible accessible from a mobile device. Closely correlated with this design criteria is the requirement to make the content browser independent. As a consequence, we use no Javascript. This design choice may limit the aesthetic appeal of the web site, but we believe it preserves the ability to reach the widest possible Internet-based audience.

Utlimately, our desire is to challenge, encourage and help Christians to fulfill the ultimate purpose of their lives, which is to know God for who He is and to please Him through the exercise of spiritual discipline.
